as American as apple pie

Congrats to my sister in-law Priscila. This morning she tucked her Argentine flag away and replaced it with Stars and Stripes. She was among 197 other Utahns who took the oath to become U.S. Citizens. She can now bear arms if the country asks her to. I kind of chuckled when I heard that. There were a lot of things said but I can't remember all of them. I got up pretty early in the a.m. so I would make it on time. Any who... The ceremony was really neat. A 1st grade class from Majestic Elementary(wherever that is)put on the cutest little program. We recited "The Pledge of Allegiance" and sang the "National Anthem." I got a little teary. Woot Woot...Love you Priscila!

A few things I did remember about this morning-
*198 peeps were sworn in this morning. The afternoon session had 202.
*75 of the 198 hailed from Mexico.
*It took Priscila 7 years
*There was a man from Canada that has waited 15(or was it 12?)years
*There were some presently serving in the military.
Mexico, Canada, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Peru and Vietnam(a few of the newest U.S. citizens came from these places. I'm sure there was more but this is all that was talked about and what was overheard.)

Of course the ceremony closed with a video montage set to Lee Greenwoods "Proud to be an American." I have to say after being a part of this mornings events I am very "proud to be an american." It really is a priviledge I take for granted.

Bigger Than My Head

I love these babies. My mom and I were at Sam's and I got really excited when I spotted these little guys. Like a good mom, she offered to buy me this barrel of cheesy goodness. I have a bit of a history with "Utz Cheeseballs." It began at the Irvine Schoolhouse apartments in Sugarhouse. My former roomie, Megan, received these as a gift for her birthday at the end of December. Together as roommates we decided it would take us until March to polish off the barrel. A week later we were looking at an empty container. Now, I will possibly shoot myself in the foot if I snarf these down in a weeks time. I think when you have more people involved in the feeding you can talk yourself into believing that you probably didn't have that many. So, yeah...I love em. If you see me walking down the street with orange hands just pretend like it's self-tanner.

We are both a little attached

Campbell is going through a funny little stage. Sometimes when I leave the room she bursts into tears. At first I was flattered but now....hmmm. No, it really does make me feel like I am important in her life. She needs me and it really is good to feel needed.
When I leave Campbell home with Nate while I run errands, I really miss her. I wonder if she is performing a new trick or making a new noise. Sometimes when she goes to bed earlier than normal I miss her. It's nice to have some time to myself and I know that I need "alone time" but still. I just love my little girl. We are both a little attached.

Side Note: When I do comeback from running errands I always imagine that she is going to squeal with delight when she sees me. It never happens. Not one single noise ever comes out of her mouth. She just kind of looks at me like I've been there the whole time. I don't get it.

Applause Please!

If you read my "poker face" post you know that C can be a pretty serious kiddo. One thing that has always revved up her little engine is good ol' fashion applause. She LOVES clapping. Yesterday for the first time ever she returned the favor. Right now she is still working on her coordination. She kind of claps like a drunk but I'll take it. It's funny how the little things make me the proudest mother.

29 is the new 30

Today is my hunkster of a husband's 30th birthday. All I can say is welcome to the club pardner. It's a wild ride. Here are some things Nate is doing at 30 years old.

-rolling over
-walking
-eating solids
-being cute
-working hard
-making me laugh
-being patient with his crazy wife
-being the best husband a gal could hope for.

I love you Nate Healy!(in shouting voice)
I hope you have a wonderful birthday. If you don't like your present just pretend like you do. ;)
